Biography

Dr. Benjamin is a geospatial scientist and environmental hydrologist whose research focuses on groundwater recharge, flood risk, terrain analysis, and climate change modelling. He specialises in integrating GIS, remote sensing, the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT), and machine learning to model spatial hydrological processes, with expertise in Python and Google Earth Engine.

He holds a PhD in Environmental Engineering Management from the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), Sunyani, Ghana, awarded in 2025. His doctoral research used GIS, remote sensing, and SWAT modelling to map flood-risk terrain, delineate groundwater potential zones, and assess how land use change affects hydrology in northwestern Ghana.

Benjamin is a Lecturer in the Department of Agricultural Engineering at Ho Technical University (HTU), where he teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in hydrology and water resources engineering, GIS and remote sensing, and climate change, and mentors students in water resources conservation and sustainability.

He earned his MSc in Water Resources Engineering and Management from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, in 2021, and his BSc in Environmental Engineering from UENR in 2017. After his undergraduate studies, he served as a Teaching and Research Assistant at the Earth Observation Research and Innovation Centre (EORIC), UENR (2017–2018).

Benjamin has authored and co-authored peer-reviewed publications in journals including the Journal of Hydrology: Regional Studies, Natural Hazards, Urban Climate, Heliyon, Groundwater for Sustainable Development, and the Hydrological Sciences Journal. His work spans flood risk mapping, groundwater recharge and potential zoning, groundwater quality and vulnerability, and small hydropower potential, and he has contributed to several collaborative research projects in water resources and environmental sustainability. He serves as a reviewer for several scientific journals. He was inducted into the Ghana Institution of Engineering as a Professional Engineer (PE) in December 2022.

He is committed to advancing data-driven solutions for water resources management in West Africa and to developing the next generation of environmental hydrologists.

Outside work, Benjamin enjoys nature photography and running at dawn.
