Biography
Thando Mathehas a background in Geoinformatics and Surveying. He holds a BSc Hons degree from the University of Zimbabwe. Thando has accumulated professional experience, having served as Assistant Manager GIS at the Zimbabwe Land Commission for two years, followed by a four-year tenure as a GIS Consultant at Spatial Sense. Thando's contributions to the field have been recognized through prestigious awards and accolades. He was honored with the Nebula Award by the Space Generation Advisory Council in 2023 and received the Top Essay Award from the African Space Leadership Institute in the same year. Thando's expertise has also led him to speak at the Africa Group on Earth Observation Symposium in 2023.
Additionally, Thando Mathe serves as the Acting Chairperson of the Open StreetMap Zimbabwe Chapter, where he plays a role in promoting open-source mapping initiatives and community engagement.
