Biography
Jan Kreibich obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Ecosystem Management from the University of Gottingen, Germany, between 2010 and 2014. In 2014, Jan served as a Research Assistant at the Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry in Germany, contributing to ecosystem research and forest management. Following this, he broadened his horizons through a research internship in stream restoration at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center in the United States in 2015.
In 2016, Jan expanded his knowledge further as a Visiting Graduate Student in drought research at the University of California-Berkeley, United States. Subsequently, he pursued an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master of Science degree in Water Science & Engineering, completing his studies at UNESCO-IHE Delft in the Netherlands, Instituto Superior Tecnico in Portugal, and TU Dresden in Germany from 2016 to 2018. From 2018 to 2019, Jan worked as an Environmental Data Analyst for the LIFE Programme at the European Commission-Executive Agency for SMEs, gaining valuable experience in environmental data analysis. He further honed his expertise through a Graduate Certificate in Tropical Forest Restoration at Yale University, United States, from 2021 to 2022.
Currently, Jan is a Scientia PhD Candidate in Large-Scale River and Wetland Restoration at UNSW Sydney, Australia, undertaking cutting-edge research in this field.
