Biography

Mandira Singh Shrestha is a Senior Water Resources Specialist at ICIMOD. She has over 25 years of research experience that cover broad areas of climate services, disaster risk reduction and water resources management. Her main area of expertise includes transboundary flood forecasting and monitoring, application of satellite-based products, regional cooperation, hydrological and hydraulic modelling for hydropower projects, early warning systems and end user engagement for reduced risks and increased resilience. Her recent research focused on localizing climate services for Agriculture and Tourism, communication of early warning to the last mile and institutional capacity building in Future Climate Change Projections. She is one of the Lead authors of the of the chapter on Disaster Risk Reduction and building resilience in the Hindu Kush Himalaya assessment. Ms. Shrestha holds a Doctorate in Engineering from the Kyoto University, Japan, Master’s in Civil Engineering from the University of Washington, Seattle, USA and a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee.
