Biography

Dr. Eng. Nivin Abdelrahim Hasan is a Technical Advisor-Researcher at the Royal Jordanian Geographic Centre.

She holds a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from University of Damascus, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Surveying Section. She has a Masters in Navigation and Related Application from Politecnico di Torino, Italy with an excellent average. She received a Ph.D. in Space Science and Technology Application Engineering from Beihang University, China with excellent average.

Dr. Eng. Nivin Abdelrahim Hasan was the first female Engineer appointed at the Royal Jordanian Geographic Centre to be a Deputy Director General.

The Ministry of the Public Sector Development, and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) appointed her as one of the top eight females inspiring change-makers from 370 female candidates from different governmental entities and ministries in Jordan. She presented her success story at a USAID event with the presence of Her Excellency the U.S Ambassador and the Minister of the Public Sector Development in 2016.

She was the only female appointed as a member of the Administrative Board of the Jordanian Geographic Society in 2019.

She was honoured with the International Platinum Medal for Women Change Makers in Istanbul in 2021, the highest distinction awarded by the Arab Change Makers for Human Development and the Global Council for Women Leaders and Entrepreneurs. This recognition was given in acknowledgment of her contributions to women's empowerment and Space Technology Awareness in Jordan.

She was invited by Beihang University and the China Satellite Navigation Office to attend The Third China-Arab States B.D.S. Cooperation Forum to represent Jordan, and she presented a presentation on “GNSS application in Jordan - Current and Future” in December 2021.

Dr. Eng. Nivin Abdelrahim Hasan was selected from Jordan by ISESCO to participate in the First International ICESCO Model Satellite (CANSAT) Workshop & Aerospace Symposium Building Tomorrow's Global Training in July 2022 in Rabat, Morocco. Her team developed and built a Can-Satellite from concept to flight. CANSAT transmitted data to the ground station during parachute-assisted descent after being released from a drone to the ground.

She was a keynote speaker at the FengYun Metrological Satellite User Conference, which took place on 13-15 November 2023 in Xiamen, China.

She participated as one of the seven reviewer’s board to evaluate the presentation of the Space Ranger team of Beihang University under the supervision of Prof. Chen Pei, which won the SUCC Competition during the I.A.C. Science and Academic event in September 2023.

She was nominated as a Counsellor for the Women's Science Committee of the China Association of Remote Sensing Application during the Forum of Global Women Scientists in the Field of Spatial Information in October 2023.  She was also honoured to be invited as a VIP guest by the Counsellor of the Women's Science Committee. During the forum, she actively participated in a roundtable discussion on the topic of "Opportunities and Challenges for Women in Science."
