At this first stakeholder meeting the Space4Water stakeholder community has an opportunity to get to meet and know each other in person. The workshop's objectives include the identification of
- shared community objectives for the Space4Water community
- approaches to assessing user needs within the community and water related sectors towards the space sector
- approaches to facilitate matchmaking between users with needs and existing gaps and stakeholders who have solutions to (partial) problems
Dates and location
The workshop will take place on 27-28 October 2022 at the Vienna International Centre, with an opportunity to host it online, should COVID prevent travels in October.
To be considered for participation Space4Water stakeholders and featured professionals can register here. If your organisation is not yet a Space4Water stakeholder, but active in using space-based technology or data for water (resource) management, hydorology or ecosystem preservation please reach out by filling this form and you will be contacted by our staff.
Within the financial resources available, a limited number of selected participants from developing countires will be offered financial support to attend the stakeholder meeting. This financial support will defray the cost of travel (a round trip air-ticket - most economic fare - between the airport of international departure in their home country and Vienna) and/or the room and board expenses for the duration of the meeting.
Financial support from the United Nations will only be considered for individuals selected as active meeting contributors who are presently living in a developing country. For the list of developing countries, please refer to the annex of the "World Economic Situation and Prospects 2020" report, available here.
Participants will be selected, depending on their place of origin, their language skill and role in their society related to water. Successful applicants will be notified of the outcome within two weeks after the deadline to apply for financial support.
