About Geohazard Risk Mapping Initiative

The Geohazards Risk Mapping Initiative is an initiative that deploys volunteer youths, who are skilled at using Geographic Information Systems and satellite imagery analysis to create flood susceptibility and post-disaster maps in Nigeria. The initiative is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and 13 (Climate Action), and aligned with one of the seven global targets for Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction; to substantially increase the availability and access to multi-hazard early warning system, and disaster risk information and assessment 2030.
