Biography

Originally from San José Poaquil, Chimaltenango, Indigenous Kaqchikel woman, she attended her secondary level at the Instituto Normal para Señoritas "Olimpia Leal", in Antigua, Guatemala. Ms Simón Sisimit graduated from the only public university in Guatemala, Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala as a Journalist with a Bachelor of Social Communication Sciences. She is currently a student in Public Management and Juridicality at the National Institute of Public Administration -Guatemala (INAP).

She leads the DDASO Project, an initiative born in San José Poaquil whose objective is the use of technology in sustainable agriculture in indigenous communities. She also has experience in leadership and empowerment of women, she was National Women's Coordinator of the Global Network of Young Politicians in Guatemala from 2019 to 2021. She is co-founder and partner of the magazine Ch'ab'äl bilingual digital media of Mayan languages in Guatemala.

Ms Ms Simón Sisimit  is also a former fellow of the Ija ́tz Guatemala Project Scholarship Association, member of Guate activa and Community of Change, Class of 2021 of Centro de Liderazgo Restaurativo Circula Guatemala, as well as a promoter of the Sustainable Development Goals. In 2019, she participated in the Model United Nations-UNAM-Mexico.

She currently works at the Press Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Guatemala.
